private lessons

At Seattle Jiu-Jitsu Academy, our mission is to build competent, well-rounded martial artists. After 30 years of teaching and training, our Head Coach has observed a consistent trend: private lessons are rarely the most effective path to learning Jiu-Jitsu.

We believe in a "Community-First" model for three primary reasons:

The Necessity of Diverse Training Partners: To truly learn Jiu-Jitsu, you must test your techniques against a variety of body types, strength levels, and skill sets. Relying solely on an instructor as a sparring partner creates a "technical vacuum" that hinders real-world application.

Consistency and Longevity: Statistics show that students who participate in a group environment remain active in the art significantly longer. The support, accountability, and camaraderie of a team are just as vital as the coaching itself.

The "Ego Gap": Many seek private lessons to avoid feeling inadequate in front of others. However, Jiu-Jitsu is a journey of shared vulnerability. Our morning and evening classes are designed to be inclusive environments where the community lifts you up, ensuring you never feel "behind," but rather part of a collective progression.

Our Philosophy is Simple: We aren't here to sell you a "premium" shortcut; we are here to provide the most effective environment for you to actually get good at Jiu-Jitsu.

With classes available both mornings and evenings, we provide the flexibility to fit your schedule while maintaining the integrity of your training.

Join the community. Earn your progress.
